The Westwood Warriors female program has been around for more than a decade and is growing every year. Students that attend Westwood have an opportunity to be enrolled in St. James-Assiniboia Hockey Academy. It was the first officially licensed Hockey Canada Skills Academy in the nation. Students receive both on and off ice training. Westwood offers a great atmosphere to grow and learn. Westwood Collegiate is a recognized International Baccalaureate World School. Many former players have had the opportunity to play MWJHL or at university level.
CTV Division A Congratulations to Dakota Lancers’ Kayla Friesen (#77) who showed extraordinary skill in her team’s hard fought 4-1 victory over the PCI Saints, scoring 2 goals and bringing her point total for the first half of the season to 33 points (22G,11A).
Winnipeg Free Press Division B Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Emily Hollins (#19) who dominated play this week, controlling and directing a hard fought 3-3 tie against the Miles Mac Buckeyes, followed by a trilling 4-3 win over the Selkirk Royals.
CTV Division A Congratulations to Meagan Sawyer, CSHC Huskies # 35, who’s outstanding goaltending helped her team retain a 1-1 tie against the SJR Eagles by stopping a breakaway goal late in the game. Two days later, Meagan made 20 stops in her team’s 3-1 win over the St. Mary’s Flames.
Winnipeg Free Press Division B Congratulations to Kristen Winter, Westwood Warriors #7 forward, who’s commanding performance, with 3 highlight goals and an assist, secured her team’s 7-2 victory over the CLC Scorpions.
CTV Division A Congratulations to Westwood Warriors #7 Haley Kirkbride-Taylor, who led the rush and used superb fore-checking skills to cause turnovers on most attacks, taking her team to a 4-0 victory over the Lord Selkirk Royals.
Winnipeg Free Press Division B Congratulations to West Kildonan Wolverines #18 Alex Anderson, who dominated the ice both offensively and defensively this week, and scoring 3 goals to ensure her team’s 4-1 victory over the Beliveau Barracudas.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Vanessa Klimpke of the Westwood Warriors, a dominating force as she scored 3 goals, assisted on one other goal and consistently set up her teammates to help lead her team to a 5 to 1 victory over the Miles Mac Buckeyes.
Winnipeg Free Press Division Congratulations to Kathryn Moss of the St Mary’s Flames, who scored a hat-trick as well as making some important defensive plays, in a closely fought battle against the College Beliveau Barracudas which St Mary’s won by a score of 4 to 3.
