The Westwood Warriors female program has been around for more than a decade and is growing every year. Students that attend Westwood have an opportunity to be enrolled in St. James-Assiniboia Hockey Academy. It was the first officially licensed Hockey Canada Skills Academy in the nation. Students receive both on and off ice training. Westwood offers a great atmosphere to grow and learn. Westwood Collegiate is a recognized International Baccalaureate World School. Many former players have had the opportunity to play MWJHL or at university level.
CTV Division 1: Congratulations VMC Trojans Anna Brownridge who began the Championship playoffs as a force to be reckoned with. On Monday, Anna assisted 2 goals in the Trojans thrilling 4-3 win against the Kelvin Clippers. On Tuesday, she turned up the heat, banging in 4 goals to secure a 6-0 game two series win. Anna worked hard every shift during the series and added the spark her fellow Trojans needed to push them toward the Quarter Final round.
WFP Division 2: Congratulations Westwood Warriors Heaven Moneyas for her exceptional goaltending during this week’s Quarter Final playoff series. The eighth ranked Warriors fought hard to defeat the first ranked Beliveau Barracudas, and none harder than their goaltender. Heaven stopped an incredible 52 of 54 shots during their game one 2-0 loss, and then stopped another 43 shots in regulation time keeping the game scoreless before letting in the overtime winner. A truly remarkable performance!
CTV Division 1: Congratulations VMC Trojans Allison Canvin, a stand out defensive player, whose controlled play this week led her team to a stunning 6-2 performance over the CSHC Huskies on Wednesday, and to a nail biting 2-1 victory over the River East Kodiaks on Friday, where she also potted an assist.
WFP Division 2: Congratulations Westwood Warriors Heaven Moneyas, who had a spectacular week of goaltending. On Monday, Heaven stopped 35 of 36 shots in her team’s 2-1 victory over CSLR Renards, and two days later, she stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 2-2 tie against the JH Bruns Broncos.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Emily McDonald who’s goaltending gave her team a chance to win in two losses this week. Emily started the week with 16 saves in Monday’s game against the Dakota Lancers (4-2); and in an unreal performance against the Shaftesbury Titans (4-0) on Friday, she made 56 saves!
WFP Division: Congratulations to Springfield Sabres’ Dana Schultz who’s focused goaltending and quick reflexes earned her a second shut out this season in a 1-0 victory against the St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles. Schlutz turned away all 23 shots in the nail biter.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Jamie Gledhill, who’s hot hand kept the Warriors flying this week. Jamie scored 1 goal and an assist in the 6-3 victory over the Oak Park Raiders, and two days later, scored another 3 goals in a heart breaking 5-4 OT loss to the Jeanne Sauvé Olympiens. Jamie has 8 points for the season.
WFP Division: Congratulations to JH Bruns Broncos’ Sydni Eden who had a stellar week with an assist in a tight 2-1 win over the Garden City Gophers, and later in the week, scored 1 goal and the shoot out winner in their 3-2 victory over the Miles Mac Buckeyes. Sydni has 5 points for the season.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Alicia Prociuck who totaled up 6 points in her team’s two games this week. She opened the week with four goals in the 5-4 win over the Dakota Lancers; and two days later, she notched another goal and added an assist in her team’s 5-2 defeat against the Kelvin Clippers.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals’ Cassidy Ilchena who registered four goals and a helper in her team’s 12-1 victory over the SJR Eagles. Cassidy was able to score from all spots on the ice and was able to generate multiple other scoring opportunities to lead her team to the victory.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Emma Mitchler who had an outstanding performance in the qualifying series against the Springfield Sabres. Emma backstopped her team to a 2-1 series win by stopping 72 of 77 shots directed her way including a breakaway in the third period of their 2-1 victory and 2 phenomenal saves in the shoot out.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals’ Nadia Zelych who had a hot hand in the qualifying series against the Beliveau Barracudas, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist in her team’s 6-2 first game victory, and scoring another 2 goals in the deciding second game.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Nikki Lilies who displayed some magic as she helped her team beat the CSHC Huskies by scoring 2 goals in a 5-2 victory. Scoring at a pace of a goal a game, Nikki is helping to keep her team a top contender within the division.
Winnipeg Free Press Division: Congratulations to West Kildonan Wolverines’ Destyni Chiborak who filled the net this week, scoring 3 goals and an assist in their 4-2 win over the Beliveau Barracudas; and potting 2 more goals in her team’s 4-3 loss to the Selkirk Royals.

CTV Division A: Congratulations to SJR Eagles goalie Stephanie Caryk who stopped 45 shots, made many big saves and several multiple save efforts in their 6-5 victory over the Dakota Lancers.
Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors goalie Brooklyn Sulyma who displayed amazing poise and puck handling control in helping her team to a 2-0 victory over the Sanford Sabres.
CTV Division A Congratulations to CSHC Huskies’ Ashley Ross who was outstanding in the League openers. Ashley was a powerhouse in her team’s 6-1 victory over the SJR Eagles scoring 3 goals and assisting on the other 3. Her performance continued the next day, scoring another goal in her team’s win over the Springfield Sabres (3-0).
Winnipeg Free Press Division B Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Nikki Lillies who was instrumental in her team’s 6-2 victory over the CLC Scorpions, scoring 3 goals and assisting on one more. Later in the week, Nikki also scored a goal in her team’s tight 4-3 victory over the Sanford Sabres.
