Making a comeback in 2009, the West Kildonan Collegiate Female High School Hockey Program has been in the WWHSHL for 8 consecutive years. Our high school program accommodates players who have played in the AAA, AA, A and B Community Programs. In addition, ringette players have been able to make an easy transition to hockey through our program while maintaining their participation in competitive ringette programs. Student-athletes who have had little opportunity, but great desire, to learn the skills needed to play hockey have also added to our program, with their fresh willingness to learn providing much inspiration over the years. Highlights over the last 8 years include claiming a Winnipeg Free Press Championship in 2011; achieving league semi-finalist status for multiple seasons; competing for 6 years in the Winnipeg Free Press Division and 2 years in the CTV Division; representing the Wolverines at WWHSHL Jets and Vets All-Star Games; earning WWHSHL top scorer, MVP and Sportsmanship Awards; watching some players graduate and move on to play at the competitive U.S. and Canadian university level as well as the Junior Women’s Hockey League and, perhaps most proudly, seeing our women’s hockey program advance even further with the support of former players who have made the commitment to return to our bench in a coaching capacity. The Wolverines accommodate a huge range of talent. All that is required is a strong work ethic and heart!

CTV Division A Congratulations to Westwood Warriors #7 Haley Kirkbride-Taylor, who led the rush and used superb fore-checking skills to cause turnovers on most attacks, taking her team to a 4-0 victory over the Lord Selkirk Royals.
Winnipeg Free Press Division B Congratulations to West Kildonan Wolverines #18 Alex Anderson, who dominated the ice both offensively and defensively this week, and scoring 3 goals to ensure her team’s 4-1 victory over the Beliveau Barracudas.
CTV Division A Congratulations to Oak Park’s Erin Kucheravy who displayed excellent offensive skills and solid defense as well as scoring 2 short handed goals and 1 assist in a 4-3 victory over the Lord Selkirk Royals in the CTV Division.
Winnipeg Free Press Division B Congratulations to Destyni Chiborak of the West Kildonan Wolverines for displaying a relentless effort and puck possession as well as collecting 3 points in helping lead her team to a 4-3 victory over the Miles Macdonnel Buckeyes in the Winnipeg Free Press Division.
CTV Division: Congratulations to St. Mary’s Flames’ Nicole McGlenen, who was on fire against the Westwood Warriors scoring 2 goals and playing inspired hockey as she helped her team with a convincing 4-0 win in a well played game.
CTV Division: Sharing this weeks honors, we also congratulate Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Jalissa Veren , who despite losing to CJS by a score of 5-2 , played exceedingly hard and aggressive in and around the net limiting CJS scoring chances.
Winnipeg Free Press Division Congratulations to Alexee Klassen of the West Kildonan Wolverines, who had a terrific week by greatly contributing in each of the Wolverines 3 victories. Against the St. Norbert Celtics, she made several great offensive plays, generating 3 goals and adding 2 assists in this 7-2 victory.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Cassandra Jorgenson of the Garden City Gophers, who was red hot in her game against the Oak Park Raiders, scoring 5 goals and assisting on 1 other as they won by a score of 7-4.
Winnipeg Free Press Division Congratulations to the West Kildonan Wolverines’ Alexandra Anderson, who was at the top of her game against the St Mary’s Flames, helping her team to a 9-3 victory by scoring 2 goals, assisting on 1 other and craftily making sharp passes.
CTV Division: CTV Division A Player of the Week is the PCI Saints Deann DeGraeve who scored two goals in leading her team to a thrilling win over last year’s champions Oak Park Raiders. An impressive winger, Deann scored her second and winning goal with less then 3 minutes remaining in a fast and furious end to end game.
Winnipeg Free Press Division: Winnipeg Free Press Division B Player of the Week is West Kildonan’s Christine Johnson who out-performed several athletes, setting up and assisting goals, and shutting down the River East offensive effort in a 9 to 1 win over the Kodiaks.
