Miles Macdonell Collegiate is a grade 9-12 school with over 1200 students in the River East Transcona School Division that offers a variety of academic programming such as French Immersion and the International Baccalaureate Programme as well as a highly competitive and fun athletic program. The Miles Mac Buckeyes Girls Hockey program has been in a part of the WWHSHL since 2003 reaching the division finals on 3 occasions and winning the championship once. Our high school program accommodates players from a variety of hockey and ringette backgrounds. Several of our alumni have returned to assist with coaching the team which speaks volumes for the quality of coaching and sense of comradery that has been established within the program. We have travelled to Fort Frances Ontario to take part in the Scott Clendenning Memorial Showcase Exhibition in 2013 and 2014 as well as to Chicago to play in the Canlan Chicago Winter Girls Classic in 2016.
CTV Division 1: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes Kate Stewart, who helped open up the flood gates scoring 2 goals in the Buckeyes’ 7-3 win over the Kelvin Clippers on Monday and scoring the lone goal in their 4-1 loss to the Oak Park Raiders on Thursday. Kate is the Buckeyes lead scorer with 20 points for the season.
WFP Division 2: Congratulations to Beliveau Barracudas Jenna Fisette, who was on fire as she scored a goal in their 3-1 victory over the JH Bruns Broncos on Tuesday, and then scored another goal and added an assist in their 3-1 win over the Springfield Sabres on Friday. Jenna ranks as the Barracudas second point scorer with 19 points this season.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Dakota Lancers’ Risa Shatford, our CTV Division Player of the Week. This stellar center strong on the penalty kill and pushing relentlessly to victory, scored 3 goals and an assist in a very exciting 5-4 win over the red hot Oak Park Raiders. Risa leads team scoring with 20 points this season.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Elise Catellier, our Winnipeg Free Press Division Player of the Week. This crafty forward and catalyst in her line, assisted on the tying goal in a hard-fought game against the powerful Springfield Sabres, then scored the winning goal at 1:01 in the 3rd edging the Sabres out. Elise leads team scoring with 10 points this season.
The Miles Mac Buckeyes vs. River East Kodiaks Breast Cancer Girls Hockey Fundraiser game was a huge success! Wednesday, October 19 at Gateway REC, it was standing room only as the Kodiacs pulled out a 3-1 victory. Players from both teams incorporated pink into their uniforms. Over $450 was raised from the Miles Mac Youth In Philanthropy Bake Sale and the Loonie Stick raffle donated by River East and the OCN Blizzard with players from both teams providing loonies. “We’re looking forward to a great season and making this event even bigger and better next year!” said the girls.
In a thrilling 2-1 series deciding game, the CSHC Huskies win the Winnipeg Free Press Division title against the Miles Mac Buckeyes. In the final series, the Buckeyes won game one 3-2 in overtime. The Huskies won game two decisively, tying up the series with a 6-2 victory. With well matched talent on both benches, the packed rink of fans remained on the edge of their seats for the entire game three. In the final minutes of the game, Miles Mac pulled their goalie using the six woman advantage to tie up the game. The puck dropped in the Huskies zone for the last time with 5.6 seconds left on the clock, but the Buckeyes would not find the net and Huskies won the game 2-1. In Game 1 of the WWHSHL Championship Playoff final series, CJS Olympiens take the lead over the Kelvin Clippers (4-1) in the CTV Division, and the Miles Mac Buckeyes eke out a victory over the CSHC Huskies (3-2 OT) in the Winnipeg Free Press Division.

CTV Division: Congratulations to Lorette Scorpions’ Reilli Howden who scored two goals in her team’s win against the FRC Centurions this week. Reilli also had a strong game earlier in the week, creating several scoring chances in her team’s win against the Springfield Sabres.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Grace Fedirchuk, who backstopped her team to three wins this week. Grace made a total of 48 saves (26 vs Selkirk Royals; 17 vs CSHC Huskies and 5 vs. West Kildonan Wolverines) and let in only 5 goals in the 3 games played.
CTV Division: Congratulations to Oak Park Raiders’ Courtney Kruse who was on absolute fire this week. Monday Courtney scored 2 goals in the 3rd period to tie the game later won by the Westwood Warriors in OT; Thursday she added another goal and assist, helping her team defeat the CLC Scorpions; and Friday, she scored another 4 goals and an assist defeating the Garden City Gophers.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Rebecca Thevenot who scored 2 goals and an assist in her team’s 7-0 win over the SJR Eagles, followed by 2 assists in her team’s 4-0 win over the Beliveau Barracudas.
CTV Division: Congratulations to PCI Saints’ Samantha Turner; a power forward who helped her team to a narrow 3-2 victory over the FRC Centurions by scoring 1 goal and playing a very strong defensive game limiting the Centurions chances to score.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes Kali Solmundson who had a productive week by assisting on 3 of 4 goals scored in her team’s 4-0 win over the Huskies and potting 1 goal the next day in a 5-0 win over the Lions.
CTV Division: Congratulations to power forward, Kelvin Clippers’ Keyanna Lea who contributed 3 goals and 2 helpers in her team’s win over the Oak Park Raiders this week. Keyanna used her back and fore checking skills to control the game from puck drop to final whistle.
WFP Division: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Mikaela Robinson who scored 2 goals in her team’s crushing defeat of the CSHC Huskies. Mikaela also controlled the puck in her own zone and had several end to end rushes which led to their victory.
CTV Division: Congratulations to SMA Flames’ Alexa McFadden who was on fire this semi-final series, guiding her team to 2 straight wins over the powerful CJS Olympiens. In the first game, a 3-2 thriller, Alexa was a dominant force on the ice, fore-checking and back-checking with skill; and in game two, another 6-5 thriller, she popped in 2 goals, one on the power play.
