All Star Day a huge success – Thank you Fans!

Living up to its reputation, WWHSHL All Star Day was Fire on Ice. We celebrated women’s hockey at its finest, showcasing some of the most talented female players in Manitoba in two games and a skills competition. The Vets game featured graduating players from across the league, and the Jets game, our most competitive players from the 24 teams across the League. The rink was packed when the puck dropped for the Vets game. Showing unwavering spirit and school pride, fans wore school colours, sported signs and got loud and social throughout the day.

Thanks to our sponsors and fans, more than $3000 was raised. The proceeds will be invested in women’s high school hockey and planned new programs like specialized goalie training and player development. For the second year in a row, we were also able to raise $750 For Her Heart – an awareness, research and cardiac care program sponsored by The Vic Foundation to #fightHERkiller – Women’s heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women over 35 world wide, taking 1 in 3 lives every year, and there are unique risks to younger women. Yet, 80% is preventable with awareness and action. As a women’s League, we are proud to join the fight and support this important cause.

Thank you to all our fans, sponsors and volunteers for making the WWHSHL All Star Day 2017 a memorable success for our players!
