The CLC Scorpions win the Winnipeg Free Press Division title against the Miles Mac Buckeyes in a thrilling 3-2 series deciding game victory. This is the first WWHSHL title for the Scorpions. With well-matched talent on both benches, the fans remained on the edge of their seats until the very end of the game. Breaking the deadlock in the second period, the Scorpions took the lead with two unanswered power play goals scored by Nicole Levasseur and Samantha Bernardin. Coming back strong in the 3rd, the Buckeyes Tesia Romaniw closed the gap to one goal at 3:59, but Scorpions Milene Wiebe responded 55 second later. At the 2 minutes mark, Buckeyes’ Mikaela Robinson brought the fans to their feet with a goal of her own, but playing the remainder of the period largely short-handed the Buckeyes were unable to tie up the game. Congratulations to the CLC Scorpions, the 19th Annual WFP Division Champions. The Scorpions will be honoured at the 19th Annual Excellence and Leadership Awards April 15, 2015. #wwhshl #hockey #winnipegnews
