First up on October 20, the PCI Saints held a ‘Pink in the Rink’ event for their opening home game against the Beliveau Barracudas. The players dawned pink from head to toe with ribbons in their hair, stickers on their helmets, and pink tape on their socks and sticks. Even the rink was pink for the event. Donations at the door raised $93.00, which was donated to Central Plains Cancer Care.
Later in the month, the CSHC Huskies hit the ice with special pink jerseys during the 2014 CSHC Huskies Hockey Classic Tournament, raising an incredible $1,982.25 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through gate admissions, 50/50 and Pink Hoodie sales. The Huskies also raffled off special Pink Huskies’ jerseys signed by 12 of the Winnipeg Jets.
