We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to one of Eli Wilson Goaltending’s Summer Camps. Today’s most comprehensive one week training program for goaltenders. The camp’s on-ice coaching will be provided by Eli Wilson and seven other instructors that have played at high levels and have trained with Eli.

Eli Wilson Goaltending will be hosting camps this year in Detroit June 25-29, Denver July 2-6, Winnipeg July 9-13, Vancouver July 16-20, Ottawa July 23-27, Toronto July 30-Aug 3, Edmonton Aug 13-17 and Edmonton August 20-24.

Camps will be divided into two groups, one comprised of Atom and Peewee goalies and the second primarily for High level Bantam and Midget goalies. The day will be comprised of two hours of morning ice, one hour of dryland, two half hour sports psychology classes, a half hour class with Eli Wilson and one hour and a half hours of ice in the afternoon. Lunch will be supplied at each day and practice jerseys will be provided.

At the on ice sessions you will be taught ultimate positioning and train how to get there fast, make balanced consistent saves and control rebounds. The sessions will consist of very demanding high intensity repetition drills. Goalies with similar skills and abilities will work in groups of four; each group will have two Midget AAA or higher shooters. Students will receive instruction from Eli Wilson, who is considered to be the top goalie coach in the world. A high level Eli Wilson trained goalie dressed in full equipment will be on the ice teaching and demonstrating for every ice session. Eli Wilson Goaltending is the top school that is consistently producing goalies that are advancing to the next level. You will be taught and practice the absolute latest techniques and systems that elite goalies play to be successful in hockey today. Eli teaches the same things at his camps that he teaches NHL goalies.

The Eli Wilson led classroom session daily will focus on understanding what is being taught on ice and how it applies in game situations. Illustrations will be presented with NHL game situation film and students will be given a book with the material to review.

Off-ice training will consist of goalie specific dryland training. Each workout will be focused on building hip strength through all planes of motion to maximize speed and decrease risk of injury, increasing power and hip stability to improve explosive skating power on the ice. Energy system development, train to play at your highest speed, every second of the game. Each athlete will be given a take home work out program. Each goalie will be provided with the opportunity to participate in a yoga class and a nutritional seminar regarding the importance of sport nutrition and performance.

To support the mental aspects of the game, a sport psychologist will be present information on Perspective, Self-Talk, Finding the Optimum Performance State, Focusing and Re-Focusing, over nine half hour sessions throughout the week.

Private Sessions are available during the camp and after on request.

All participants should report to the camp in good condition.

To register on-line please go to www.eliwilsongoaltending.com. You can get additional information from Dan Meyer at dan@eliwilsongoaltending.com or 780 443-3014.

Congratulations to the BH Blazers who took NS by storm. Read the full report by Head Coach, Bryan Williams.

The BH Blazers travelled to Nova Scotia this past weekend for the King’s-Edgehill School “Birthplace of Hockey” Tournament. The Blazers played well throughout the tournament, remaining undefeated through some stiff competition. The team also had the chance to tour Acadia University with some BH Alums who now attend school there. A description of the final game is also listed below.

The BH Blazers played the tournament final vs. Nova Scotia’s Provincial Champs, Cobequid Education Centre (CEC). The Blazers came out strong and scored first, when Kayla Karbonik scored an early goal. CEC battled hard and pushed back but the Blazers were strong through the end of the period and held the lead 1-0 after 1 period. The second period was a different story, with CEC holding the edge of play, until Blazers Tess Bracken found a way to put the Blazers up 2-0. The two goal lead was short-lived as CEC continued to press and scored halfway through the period to make the score 2-1. As the third period began, the Blazers vowed to hold the lead and bring home the title, but with 6 minutes left, and a slim 2-1 lead, the Blazers took two penalties 30 seconds apart. A 5 on 3 advantage for CEC for over a minute and a half threatened to spoil the party for the Blazers.

But an incredible penalty kill by the Blazers lead to a Blazers goal immediately following the penalties, as Tess Bracken scored with 2:30 left in the game to seal the deal. The Blazers scored once more with 6 seconds left, Allison Sexton scored a very nice goal, leaving only the celebration to go!
